British film industry fact sheet: 100 & 132

Fact sheet 100:

1) The cultural test to see if a film accounts British is that a film has to have Cultural context, Cultural contribution, Cultural Hubs and Cultural practitioners which means the aspects of these four categories has to maintained and the film should at least get 16 out of 31 to achieve this.

2)The Sweeney: In the cultural test it scored 31/31 and the financing budget was 3 million and classified as a British film as it fit with the cultural test.

Attack the block was seen as a low budget film but classified as a British film and the estimated budget was 13 million.

The king's speech and invested 1 million and achieved 34% profit within the net.

We need to talk about Kevin had a budget of  £7000 000 and classed as a British film.

Sky fall (2011) had a budget of  £200,000,000.

3)The main problem for the British film industry is that selling the film can be hard when sacrifices have to be made a they have to sell the film to a distribution company. This means that once it is sold the revenue of the DVD and  and Blu-ray sales are lost.

4)The three strengths of the British film industry is that it allows outstanding creative skills of practitioners and the enables them to be more involved in the production companies to be involved in the production of financially successful franchises. Furthermore the fact that there are outstanding facilities and these are recognised by multiple organisations and allowed to create investment from filmmakers around the world.

5)The two options for the future for the British film industry are that relying on America by getting them involved in a co-production which would approve of them and working with the Hollywood system to engage different audiences.

6) I believe that working as a co-production could be productive as the film would be made at least and on the basis of the story it could be changed and experimented with, to make it appear better so that the financing could be better about the film.

Fact sheet 132:

1) A film is made British by accomplishing aspects of the cultural test.

2)Hollywood production context is that many films that are made in Hollywood have high budget and a heavy reliance on cast crew and celebrities where as a production context of a British film is that they can be high budget high concept films as they don't really have any clearly defined characteristics or they could be relatively low budget.

3)The James Bond franchise started in 1962.

4)In 1970's and 1980's graphic content and censorship began to be more explicit and youth were represented totally differently and there more violent and sexual scenes within movies than before.
More stereotypes began to be shown across the media within films to intrigue audiences and act towards this.

5) The groups that are represented in British film are youth they are shown to be challenging their stereotypes by rebelling and by showing non conformity and the representation of women by stereotyping them into being a mother, virgin or a whore which shows they have been treated through social realism.

6)The fact sheet suggest that social realism of British life and female protagonists appeals to audiences significantly as when a characters actions change and are shown in a new way the perception of it seen by audiences changes very considerably. Another thing that could be looked upon is how characteristics of certain stereotypes are changed and offered a new representation like a alternative of the same thing shown to challenge these stereotypes. Furthermore the locations also intrigue audiences as this allows more focus on class, education and social strife for audiences.
