preliminary task feedback and learner response

1) Type up your teacher's feedback in full.
Horror genre:
WWW:

  •  Excellent use of audio to establish the genre also the music builds up nicely towards end of the scene.
  • Good framing of the shots used, nice angles of the swing.
  • good visual effects like slow motion and black and white.
  • The setting works really well as being in children's playground.
EBI:
  • Narrative a little towards the end perhaps made unclear due to the phone shot being unclear
  • Time of the day that was used was not that fitting with the genre of the video.
  • close up of phone was a bit unclear.

2) Using a combination of your own reflection on the preliminary exercise and your teacher feedback, write three WWW bullet points (What Went Well) and three EBI bullet points (Even Better If...) for your film.
WWW:

  • The audio that i chose went well with my video
  • The shots that i used in this task built up narrative
  • The use of visual effects went well with the horror genre
EBI:
  • The establishment of my narrative could have been better by having a different time of day
  • Some shots could have been made more clear to build or more suspense and enigma for audiences so they know what is actually happening.
  • I could have used dialogue so that audiences could have understood more.

3) How effectively did you complete the objective you laid out in your preliminary exercise statement of intent?
I did not effectively achieve my goal of my statement of intent as the narrative of my video changed to what I actually intended to make because the shots that i was doing began to change my mind and the narrative as a whole.

4) What have you learned from the preliminary exercise that will help you in the actual coursework project?

I have learnt that creating a good shot list and having a clear plan set aside helps you to make it easier for filming your shots and creating a good narrative.

5) Now you have completed the preliminary exercise, what are your current plans for your actual coursework? This could include genre, narrative, characters, filming locations etc
For my actual coursework, I am still intending to do horror and make a trailer based on that but this time i am planning to change shots and narrative and have other themes play along with it to make it more intriguing for audiences. The narrative will change to what i have done in this task and have a thriller element along with horror within this.
